AFCAT (1) 2024 recruitment notice will be published on 1 December 2020 (tentatively) or in the first week of December. In addition, the application form fill up will be started along with the releasing of the AFCAT (1) 2021 notification.
The Air Force conducts the written test, Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) twice each year. The aspirants, who are dreaming to start their career in the Air Force, should appear for the exam. The minimum qualification of applying for the AFCAT exam is for the graduated candidates. Once they qualify their exam, they can start their career as a commissioned officer in ground duty (technical), flying and ground duty (non-technical).
Scheme of Online Examination :
All applicants whose applications are submitted by due date will be called for AFCAT at one of the examination centres on either 16 Feb 24 (Friday), 17 Feb 24 (Saturday) and 18 Feb 24 (Sunday).

Eligibility Criteria of AFCAT 2024
The aspirants should know the eligibility criteria before filling the AFCAT 2021 application form:
Nationality: Only the Indian Citizens are eligible for the exam. Also check AFCAT Eligibility Criteria 2024.
Short Service Commission (SSC) for both Male and Female
Educational Qualifications :
Flying Branch : Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and (aa) Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
OR
(ab) BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry: 20 to 24 years as on 01 January 2025 i.e. born between 02 January 2001 to 01 January 2005 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. born between 02 January 1999 to 01 January 2005 (both dates inclusive).
Ground Duty (Technical) : BE/BTech ( all branches eligible including civil also )
- Date of birth of the candidate should be within 2nd January 1999 and 1st January 2005. Therefore, the age of the candidate must be within 20 to 26 years as on 1st Jan 2025.
- One who has completed graduation degree/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology of four years duration from a recognized university and minimum 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level is eligible to apply.
- The candidates can join Ground duty technical branch as Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) and Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) for which candidates should have graduation degree in following streams:

Flying Branch:
- The interested candidates should complete their graduation and should get 60% marks in aggregate and should have Physics and Mathematics in 10+2 level. Apart from this, if the aspirants completed their BE or B.Tech from any renowned University or from Institution, can also apply for the exam.
- Age limit: The age group of the aspirants should be less than 24 years.
Ground Duty (Technical branch):
- The applicants should complete their four years of graduation in engineering or in technology.
- They need to get at least 60% score in both A and B Section under Aeronautical Society of Indian or Associate Membership of Indian institute Engineers.
- The age group between 18 to 26 years, can only apply for the designation.
Ground Duty (Non-Technical branch):
- The aspirants should complete their graduation in any subject with at least a 60% score.
- They also require to achieve 60% score in both A and B Section under Aeronautical Society of Indian or Associate Membership of Indian institute Engineers.
- The age group between 20 to 26 years, can only apply for the designation.
To apply for the AFCAT 2024 exam (for any designation), the aspirants should be mentally and physically fit. Physically challenged aspirants should not appear for the test. On the other hand, during the time of course commencement, the aspirants, who are below 25 years, will not get permission to be married. Additionally, at the training period, the candidates will not get married. Nonetheless, divorcees and widows/widowers will not be eligible for applying for the exam.
Candidates who are studying in the final year/ semester Degree course and are yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply provided candidate should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 60% marks up to the last semester/ year for which results have been declared up to the time of submission of application. They are required to submit proof of passing the Degree Examination by 30 Nov 24 and no request for extending this date will be entertained on the grounds of late conduct of basic qualifying University Examination, delay in declaration of results or any other ground whatsoever.
Application Fees of AFCAT 2024 Exam
- To pay the application fee, the aspirants can submit it online (either by credit card or debit card or net banking etc).
- The application fee is 550 + GST for all category candidates.
AFCAT 2024 Selection Process
- The aspirants, who will score higher than the cut off marks, will be shortlisted in AFCAT exam then AFSB ie.,
- AFSB Stage I: In stage I, the candidates will need to qualify for the screening test.
- The screening test in stage I will consist of an officer intelligence rating test, discussion test and picture perception test.
- Only the qualified candidates of stage I will get the opportunity to take part in the stage II test.
- The stage II test will consist of Psychological Test and Group for testing the interactive ability and personal conversation with the Interviewing Officer.
- The entire procedure will take place in 5 days.
- The qualified aspirants from the stage II will undergo the medical examination.
- At the end, the final merit list of the candidates will be made.
Exam Pattern of AFCAT 2024
- The aspirants have to complete the exam in online mode.
- There will be a total 100 questions.
- Total allocated marks 300
- Time duration of the exam will be 120 minutes.
- The aspirants will be rewarded 3 marks for every correct answer and will be deducted 1 mark for every wrong answer.
- There will be three sections in the exam and these will be General Awareness, Numerical Ability and Reasoning and Military Aptitude and Verbal Ability in English.

- Numerical Ability: Simplification, Ratio, Decimal Fraction, Number Series, Profit and Loss, Percentage and Simple Interest etc.
- General Awareness: Environment, Current Affairs, Geography, Basic Science, Art, Culture, History, Culture, Civics etc.
- Verbal Ability in English: Error Finding, Synonyms, Antonyms, Fill in the blanks, English Comprehension, Jumbled Sentences, Vocabulary, sentence rearrangements etc.
- Reasoning and Military Aptitude: Special Ability and Verbal Skills.
